The answer
2.4 million cells per second
About 2.4 million every second, just to keep your blood topped up.
How to get there
- An adult has about 25 trillion red blood cells (source: 20 to 30 trillion)
- Each lives about 120 days = 10.4 million seconds
- 25 trillion ÷ 10.4 million ≈ 2.4 million per second
